Graduation Ceremony of IPE's Cohort 6
Last Friday, Hanoi University of Science and Technology gratefully held a Graduation Ceremony for more than 30 bachelor’s degree holders of Cohort 6 from the International Professional English (IPE) program – a joint program between HUST and the University of St Mark and St John (UK).
Opening the ceremony, Dr. Nguyen Viet Khoa, Dean of School of Foreign Language (SoFL), could not hide his pride in the perseverance and diligence of each graduand in this challenging journey. “Today is your day. You must be very proud of yourselves. This special day is the result of your toil and selfless sacrifice, total dedication and investment to a better future.” He did not forget to remind Class of 2020 graduands that SoFL and HUST would always be their home.

On this occasion, the University awarded the graduands with outstanding achievements including 9 distinctions and 22 credits. At the ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Huynh Quyet Thang, HUST Vice President, expressed his happiness towards the program’s success.
“The success of the IPE program has been due to a number of factors: the great support that we receive from the University of St Mark and St John, the commitment & dedication of the teaching staff from HUST.” – He stated – “Above all, the main success factor is you – the students of the IPE program.”
At the ceremony, Academic Link Tutor (ALT) of IPE programme, University of St Mark & St John, Dr. Steve Disney, also took this chance to share his congratulation and advice to the young generation of IPE. “The skills and knowledge you have obtained during your degree will remain with you for life” – said Dr. Disney.

The ceremony came to an end with the valedictory by Bui Thi Nhu Ngoc, the programme valedictorian, on behalf of the graduating class of 2020. To her, this memorable journey with all her friends and teachers, the 4 years which filled with both cheerful and sad memories under this “home”, was “all the treasures, efforts, and even the sweat of youth”.
The International Professional English (IPE) is the Joint program between the University of Saint Mark and Saint John (UMJ) and Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST) Vietnam, under the British Council Programme PMI 2 Connect UK - East Asia. The program has been started in 2011 with the 1st cohort IPE K56 to graduate in 2015. About 50-60 students enter the program each year.
